Eight doors down from the old granary on Kiln Street, Shepherdstown. Look for the lantern lit over the door.

The board is chalked fresh each morning, so it shifts with the weather and the flour. Call us before you drive over and we'll put your name on a loaf and keep it behind the counter until close.

Naturally leavened, baked on stone. Sliced free if you ask.

We bake to the day, not to the demand. If you want six loaves for a table on Sunday, give us two days' notice and we'll have them cooling when you arrive.

Those are the closing times on paper. In practice the shelves are usually bare by two, and by noon on a market Saturday. Come early or call ahead.

- Free parking in the gravel lot behind the granary, a two minute walk.
- Two steps up to the door; ring the bell and Wes will bring your order out to the sidewalk.
- Dogs wait happily under the bench. There is a water bowl.
